What models are affected?
The affected models include Discovery KidsTM Marine and Safari Lamps, manufactured and sold from June 2010 through March 2012. The model numbers of the affected lamps are 1628626, 1642433; 1641522; 1641523; 1645729; and 1645853.
Are all units affected?
Not all units are affected. All affected units have batch numbers starting with 584894 or 10128. The batch number is an 11 digit number located on the bottom of the unit and on the box.
Is this a recall?
Yes, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Innovage is announcing a voluntary recall and refund program for certain Discovery KidsTM Marine and Safari Lamps, manufactured and sold from June 2010 through March 2012. This is a voluntary recall.
What is the reason for the recall?
There is the potential for wires to short circuit and cause the lamp to smoke or ignite while they were in use. There were three reported incidents of this happening. A component failure can lead to the short and improperly routed wires have the potential of catching fire. This condition presents a potential fire danger. Because safety is Innovage’s number one priority, it voluntarily initiated the recall.
How can I tell if my lamp is within the recall and needs to be returned?
On the bottom of each lamp, there is an 11 digit batch number. If the batch number on the lamp starts with a 584894 or 10128, the lamp is within the recall and you should immediately stop using the lamp and return it for a full refund by calling the recall hotline (888) 232-1535.
Is there any danger?
As with any electrical issue, the potential for fire and possible injury exists. Therefore, if you have an affected lamp, immediately discontinue use and return it for a full refund.
How do I return my product for a full refund?
Contact Innovage's recall hotline at (888) 232-1535. The customer service personnel will take your information and send you a self-addressed stamped envelope that you can use to return the lamp. A refund of the full purchase price of $10.99 will be sent upon receipt of the affected unit.
What if I purchased the lamp for more than $10.99?
Refunds of more than $10.99 will be provided for any affected units returned with a receipt indicating a purchase price of higher purchase price. When you contact the return hotline at (888) 232-1535, inform the customer service agent that you purchased a lamp for a price in excess of $10.99.
When will the recall and refund program end?
The recall and refund offer do not expire. Notices will appear in retailers’ stores, but the recall will not expire even when the notices no longer appear.
